WELCOME TO FELT WEB SITE

WELCOME TO ATTEND THE FIRST BOARD OFFICERS MEETING.
IT WILL TAKE PLACE ON Friday, 29th October, 2002. AT THE FORUM OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHERS OFFICE SITUATED AT HAY HASSANI DELEGATION, CASABLANCA, MOROCCO.
THERE WILL BE ONLY ONE POINT IN THE PROGRAMME;NAMELY THE ELECTION OF THE NEW NATIONAL BOARD OF THE FORUM.
ANY TEACHER OF ENGLISH IN HIGH SCHOOLS IS WELCOME TO JOIN.
THE ONLY CONDITION IS TO BE A MEMBER OF THE FORUM AND TO PRESENT A PROGRAM FOR HIS/HER PURPOSE OF JOINING THE FORUM.

Today's Topic:

WHAT MAKES A TEACHER GREAT?

To start with a great teacher
-makes you feel special.
-teaches you how to learn.
-inspires you with his/her passion.
-engages your whole being.
-keeps you focused.
-opens you up to new experiences.
-has no agenda.
-makes the complicated simple.
-gives clear explanations.
-shows you how everything ties together.

However many people, I think, assume that the best teacher is the one who knows the most. And if they could add one more quality it might be, "good at explaining."
I'll tell you, though: Deep mastery of a subject didn't come up much when I asked people to name their best teacher ever. Most people went back to elementary school for their pick, and the trait they mentioned most was some version of "made me feel special":
My teacher ...
"thought I was smart."
"noticed my athletic skill."
This made me uneasy at first. I thought, isn't this more about the student than the teacher? Sure, brilliant go-getters probably have a string of great teachers. But what about the back-benchers who spend most of their school careers making spit wads?

To put it in a nutshell, the great middle school and high school teachers are the ones who spark you to explore and make your own discoveries, who can guide your learning journey with a touch so subtle you think you're steering the plane yourself.
By the time you get to college, learning to learn should no longer be the issue--you're past that stage. You're a sovereign power with a toolkit of your own, so now at last the automatic first assumption becomes the true one: The Great Teacher is the one who knows the most, communicates the richest vision, and radiates such a passion for a subject that he or she infects others with it, like some wonderful disease. How a teacher does this may vary?

ABDELGHANI SAMI a resourceful teacher of English and a skillful artist went to meet Allah..This poem is for his wonderful soul.
To a lost soul brother teacher who died in harness

SAMI mon ami,
Mon ami Sami!!
I asked my heart,
It replied What .
I asked my eyes,
The tears rise.
Mon ami SAMI
SAMI mon ami!!
No one can deny
Your leadership,
